June
Warm Weather: California
California’s Yosemite is otherworldly in early June, with the park’s famous waterfalls still in full flow for a change of scenery altogether. Pleasant days await you on the valley floor, and dogwood, lupine, Mariposa lily, penstemon, and many other flora and fauna are in full bloom. The park’s higher elevation areas around Tuolumne Meadows and Glacier Point will now finally be unrestricted after those long winter months under a blanket of snow.
But you’re trip doesn’t end here! Continue driving north, through the Sierra foothills towards Sacramento, stopping in former gold rush towns and sampling the area’s up-and-coming wineries, or turn south to Sequoia National Park to see the most gigantic trees on the planet, making this area one of the best US places to visit during June.
Cold Weather: Alaska
This is one of the most ideal months to travel to this state. You’ll find up to 22 hours of sunshine per day, and the temperatures are mild, ranging from about 48 degrees during the night and 70 degrees during the day in most parts of the state. Also, winds and clouds are less prominent throughout June. This month has the best weather conditions for hiking in the many national parks and enjoying Alaska’s picturesque scenery and wildlife.
Just don’t forget your bug repellent in the morning! Mosquitoes like this warm, windless weather because of the stagnant water… Tourists like it too, so expect higher rates if you visit later in June. Also, don’t miss out on this best US place’s biggest adventure! In the Arctic region of Alaska and glaciers, you can go dog mushing all year round.
