Bonus: Tips For Choosing Bug-Free Places

Types Of Destinations To Steer Clear Of

When deciding on your next summer vacation destination, there are specific places to avoid if you detest bugs. Ponds, swamps, and forests near marshes tend to have a surplus of insects due to their high mosquito populations.

Try sticking with dryer climates because they usually have less humidity and fewer mosquitoes. But also, don’t forget to wear insect repellent when exploring any outdoor space to help keep bugs at bay.

What Else Can You Do To Avoid Bugs?

Be sure to pack enough repellent because you never know if you can acquire any wherever you end up. If there are vaccinations that prevent certain “mosquito” diseases, ensure you get them. You’ll want to speak to your doctor about this matter.

Also, be aware that these monstrous bugs are attracted to dark colors. And it would be wise to have less skin exposed. So you should wear boots or long socks if you decide to go hiking.

This might sound like a tough task, especially in the summer, but it may save you from a bunch of bites.

And remember that mosquitoes are attracted to sweet aromas, so you may want to avoid things like perfumes, aftershaves, creams with an aroma, and makeup. One more smart tip is that mosquitos are most active at dawn and dusk.

Most Popular Bug-Free Places

Besides the ones we mentioned, there are many other popular summer destinations that provide a bug-free experience. The desert southwest is always an excellent option for travelers looking for relaxation and sun.

The dry terrain means there are fewer bugs than in different regions of our country. Other stunning areas with little to no insect presence include California’s charming coastal towns and inland cities like Las Vegas and Chicago.

No matter which of these bug-free places you choose to visit, be sure to pack your camera so that you’ll have lots of pics to remember your experience!
