Charming All-American hotel: The Biltmore Estate, Asheville, North Carolina

The Biltmore Estate is in the heart of Asheville, just off Interstate 40. Cradled in the Appalachian Mountains, near the Blue Ridge Parkway, a Biltmore Estate and Gardens tour can easily be part of a more extended mountain trip.

George Vanderbilt started building his mansion in 1895 on 125,000 beautiful acres in the North Carolina mountains. It has over 250 rooms and is 135,000 square feet! The Biltmore House was finished 12 years after many changes to the original plans.

Fun Fact: Though built for elegance and entertaining, including a swimming pool and an indoor bowling alley, this charming All-American hotel was used as a storehouse for priceless art during World War II, keeping it safe during unrest.

Nowadays, the family still owns the estate through a non-profit organization that has educational programs and hosts many special events throughout the year.

Charming All-American hotel: The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia

The Greenbrier Hotel is well-known as one of the nation’s first spa retreats. The mineral hot springs in the region are said to have medicinal properties, and the MedSpa at the resort still offers guests treatments that heal and relax at the same time.

The cool summer breeze and incredible views of the Allegheny Mountains are another fantastic reason to escape to The Greenbrier during the summer.

You can enjoy a round of golf, take a picturesque carriage ride around the sprawling property, or try your hand at kayaking on the Greenbrier or Jackson Rivers.

And if you’re feelng more adventurous, complete the Aerial Adventure Course, which is a 12-challenge course suspended 50ft up in the air. One thing is for sure, though… you won’t be bored at this charming All-American hotel!

Charming All-American hotel: Pridwin Hotel and Cottages, Shelter Island, New York

Campfire sing-alongs, picnic hikes, drive-in movies, and fun art classes await guests of the Pridwin Hotel and Cottages. The newly restored East End landmark will make you feel like you’re at summer camp again, but a more grown-up one.

The property, established in 1927, sits on 7 picturesque acres of land on Shelter Island’s Crescent Beach and features 16 charming cottages and 49 rooms, a pool, a private beach, a spa, and a 100-seat restaurant.

The new laid-back aesthetic respects the resort’s past, with plenty of rattan and antique wicker incorporated into the design.

Local farm tours, croquet, water activities, and evening story time for the youngsters make Pridwin the ideal spot for a family vacation that will leave you nostalgic for the good ole’ days.

Charming All-American hotel: Jekyll Island Club Hotel, Jekyll Island, Georgia

We highly recommend heading to the Georgia coast for some downtime at the Queen Anne-style Jekyll Island Hotel, where, among other notable events, the first Transatlantic phone call took place back in 1915.

Nowadays, though, this hallmark resort delights visitors with its Southern spirit and incredible history. The resort opened up its doors in 1886 and offers three special experiences across Jekyll Island. Each one blends a laid-back beach lifestyle with timeless dignity.

Whether you prefer a barefoot escape or a hint of luxury, there’s an experience for you. Take a leisurely stroll through the gorgeous and vast grounds, where the island’s distinctive culture comes to life.

You’ll love exploring the lush surroundings and soaking in all the natural beauty.

Charming All-American hotel: Grand Hotel, Mackinac Island, Michigan

Nicknamed “America’s Summer Place,” the Grand Hotel has welcomed families to the shores of Mackinac Island since 1887.

The structure, now a National Historic Landmark, still holds the record for the most extended porch in the world, which is 660 feet and overlooks the scenic Straits of Mackinac and the Mackinac Bridge.

All of the property’s 397 rooms are decorated differently, so every visit here is unique. The long list of activities on the property includes horseback riding, golf, swimming, biking, bocce ball, croquet, and tennis.

You can make your way to the hotel’s parlor for tea in the afternoon. It’s been a Grand Hotel tradition for over 125 years. And remember to try the resort’s signature summer dessert: vanilla ice cream balls coated in toasted pecans served with warm fudge sauce.

Charming All-American hotel: The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Also known as the Grande Dame of the Rockies, The Broadmoor was constructed in 1865 and quickly became one of the best year-round destinations in the Western US.

Its impeccable service and luxury amenities still attract seasoned travelers from around the country to this day.

With 3 championship golf courses, an infinity pool, a celebrated tennis program, outdoor archery, lawn games, and pickleball courts, summer vacations at The Broadmoor are memorable and extremely relaxing.

Charming All-American hotel: El Tovar Hotel, Grand Canyon Village, Arizona

Open since 1905, this charming All-American hotel is considered the most superior option inside the Grand Canyon National Park. And we can see why! The hotel is overflowing with historical charm and has a truly magical location at the canyon’s edge.

That’s hard to beat if you ask us. Located inside Grand Canyon National Park, the hotel sits a mere 20ft from the rim of the West’s most famous landmark. Its local Oregon pine and limestone facade blend in perfectly with the surrounding landscape.

It was once considered one of the most sophisticated hotels in the US of its time and is today a designated national historic landmark.

You won’t find many amenities, like a pool, game room, gym, or any other stuff like that. But you’ll find big front and back porches with an abundance of rocking chairs and porch swings.

You can enjoy sitting out on the back deck with a glass of wine in hand and admiring the stunning canyon view every evening. Not to mention all the incredible pics you’ll be able to snap and keep as memories!

Charming All-American hotel: Hotel del Coronado, Coronado, California

The iconic oceanfront Hotel del Coronado has welcomed many generations of beach-loving visitors, including US presidents and countless celebrities, during its 130-year-old history.

This sprawling beach resort is in the San Diego Bay area and was designated a National Historic Landmark back in 1977 and delivers the very best of Southern California’s coastal lifestyle to this day.

The property’s storied history harmonizes with contemporary luxury in its 902 guest rooms. While here, you can take a surf lesson, relax, and enjoy the stunning views of Del Beach or lounge poolside in your very own private cabana.

In the evenings, watch the sunset with a handcrafted cocktail in hand and roast some s’mores around a bonfire on the beach. A new kids’ club and interactive tide pool make Hotel del Coronado the ultimate family-friendly summer retreat.

You have missed the most beautiful place of all. It is Henderson Park Inn in Destin Fl. the beach there is beautiful and private, their 5:00 happy hour is awesome, the Inn is fashioned in Cedar Shake, breakfast in the dinning room unbelievable, service is exceptional. My wife Ruth before her death had been there 8 times and she called it heaven on earth. Though expensive, it is well worth it, we had a group of people we used to meet there in October called the Octobers Good Timers, you stay there you will love it and go back time after time.
