October
Cold Weather: New England
October may just be one of the most perfect months to plan a trip in the United States. There are fewer crowds in many of the national parks, cooler temperatures returning to the south, and aspen and cottonwoods, turning the Rockies a vivid hue of reds, yellows, and oranges. The perfect outing in the best US place would be to check out the Appalachian Trail.
It’s a border-to-border trek in the East Coast, with the New England portion hitting almost all its states. The entire trail is 2,180 miles long, but there are hundreds of access points along the way, making it a popular day or section hiking outing. Autumn in New England needs no introduction, and we might also include a late-season trip to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket once the summer crowds have left.
Warm Weather: North Carolina
The most famous landmark you will find in North Carolina is probably the Great Smoky Mountains. This mountain chain is one of the most visited places in America, and there’s a good reason for that. It’s very mysterious, not to mention colorful, if not for the scenery, then for the legends attached to it.
One of the most popular things you can do here is go hiking. But not to worry. If you’re a newbie, you can go with a local guide and spend a few days exploring and admiring the stunning nature and scenery of one of our country’s best US places. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
