If you want your Grand Canyon National Park visit to be truly outstanding, then you should definitely stay at El Tovar, situated no further than 20 feet from the Southern Rim.
Designed by Charles Whittlesey, this hotel features hand-built furniture, original drawings from the man himself, and Native American motifs. This Swiss-chalet-like building, built in 1905, was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. But if we can’t convince you, perhaps this list of visitors will: Paul McCartney, Elizabeth Taylor, and Bill Clinton.
Fun fact: Paul McCartney was allegedly asked to keep his piano playing down during his visit.
