If the thought of a caravan holiday stirs unwelcome memories of rain and long games of Monopoly, the trailer at Hotel Daniel will be a pleasant surprise. An Airstream-esque silver bullet that looks like it’s been teleported from Route 66, it’s based in a garden in Vienna. Though built in the ’50s, its interior is all dark-wood panelling, gold curtains and a free-standing bath.
The hotel’s cafe-lounge is a popular spot serving up everything from pastries to steaks. Round the comer is Schloss Belvedere, a palace stuffed with art, including the world’s largest collection of Klimts. It’s also just a short ride on a hotel bike or Vespa to the centre of Neoclassical Vienna.
