8. Phoenix, Arizona

The capital of the southwestern U.S. state of Arizona, Phoenix has a lot of things to offer. From its official pride festival which has been held for 40 years, the 825-metre Camelback Mountain to Papago Park, which is basically 1,500 acres of desert landscape across Phoenix and Tempe containing golf courses, trails, seven acres of stocked fishing lagoons, picnic areas, sports facilities, rugged hills, and sandstone formations.

Pro tip: You should see the beauty of Phoenix from your RV. You can stay at the award-winning Desert’s Edge RV Village, which actually offers a pool, a game room, and a fitness center. The whole point of visiting Phoenix is to spend more time in nature, so make sure you’ll check Tempe Town Lake and Piestewa Peak.

  1. Good list! My wife and I have been to each of these cities and concur that they are great places to visit on a budget.

  2. Have you considered St. Louis, Missouri as one of the best places to travel on a budget?
Forest Park has one of the best zoos in the country and it’s free, the Jewel Box is also free, there are free animal shows at the zoo. The St. Louis Arch is a great place and there are river boat rides down the Mississippi River just to name a few attractions. Sports fans will enjoy the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and football teams. Anheuser Bush Brewery gives tours. Many more attractions too numerous to name.

  3. Listing in each top 10 things to do places each cost would have help me decide on where I want to go and what I want to do (Hotels, 5 star restaurants flavors of the city, comic clube, site seeing like tours on the river in San Antonio , theaters with upcoming shows like on Broadway or off Broadway, best tourist places to visit, ect.). Also each could be a revenue stream to subsidize your publication.

  4. I wouldn’t recommend going to Philadelphia, Phoenix or Atlanta. I didn’t enjoy them. You would be better off going to Tucson than Phoenix. And just stay away from Philly and Atlanta.
