Smathers Beach, Key West, Florida

We completely understand why snowbirds flock to the sunshine state during winter. In Key West, you can anticipate 69-degree water even in January. And in summer? It skyrockets to 82 degrees!

Who’s This Warm-Water Beach For: Adult trips

Things To Do: Smathers Beach is the largest, and arguably friendliest, stretch of sand in Key West. You can swim, take a leisurely walk, and grab some grub from one of the many yummy food trucks.

Where to stay: If you want to get the laid-back ambiance and charm that makes Key West a desirable destination, we recommend staying at the Orchid Key Inn.

But as we mentioned, this fantastic little island is geared more toward adults. So you should leave the kiddos at home and enjoy a few days of grown-up fun. While in this state, you’ll also want to check out 10 Hidden Gems in Florida if You Want to Avoid the Crowds.

  1. Guam isn’t on the “LIST”? 76 to 88 degrees all year. I “suffered” a rare 73 degree night and thought I was going to freeze.

  2. Charlotte Aschoff

Why isn’t Puerto Rico included? It is part of the USA! Its beaches are among the most beautiful in the world.
