San Juan Islands

When it comes to places to visit that are going to make you feel like you are in an exotic destination, you cannot look further than the San Juan Islands. These are some of the places in Washington that are going to take your breath away, and you will be able to discover a new chill oasis where you can go whenever you need to recharge your batteries.

The San Juan Islands are actually an archipelago of multiple islands, with the most famous and visited ones being Orcas, San Juan, and Lopes. You will be able to find them on the northern side of Puget Sound!

Out of all the places in Washington, these islands are some of the best spots where you can go whale watching, with the best and most known spot being Lime Kiln State Park on Friday Harbor, located on San Juan Island. This island is also the one with the biggest population and beachfront, so this may be the best one for you if you decide you want an active vacation.

Otherwise, if you prefer to admire more natural beauty, you can count on Orcas Island, as it is known for its beautiful yet at times rugged forest. This island is perfect for those of us who prefer a calmer vacation, as it is more remote and quiet.

If you are the active type, Lopez Island is the one for you, as it is mainly full of open fields and amazing, rolling hills, so if you love to bike, this island is going to be heaven for you. Similarly to Orcas, the island is quaint and relaxing, giving you the chance to still be active on your relaxing vacation.

Leavenworth

Another one of the places in Washington you should definitely not miss is the small town of Leavenworth! Located close to the Cascade Mountains, it is an amazing location to stop by and visit, not to mention a great spot to set camp while you explore the surrounding areas. This town is modeled after a Bavarian aesthetic, so it is bound to charm you with its impressive architecture. What’s more, there is never a dull moment in Leavenworth.

They have local beer and wine tastings that you can participate in at any time; however, when it comes to Spring and Summer, they are perfect for these seasons. Other activities that are perfect for this time of year and early autumn include bird-watching. hiking, golfing, and even catching a few hours to swim in the nearby Colchuk Lake.

This National Park is massive, with 1,442 square miles full of different earth formations and vegetation. A lot of places in Washington are talked about and known to the public, but a lot of them forget that Tacoma is also worth visiting. If you happen to be around Seattle and you wish to avoid the bustle of that city, you can always go south, and in about an hour, you will reach Tacoma. Known as the third-largest city in the state of Washington, if you have never been, you are bound to find a lot of places that are worth visiting.
