TUNNEL TOUR UNDER CAPE TOWN

Sections of Cape Town’s underground canals and rivers date back to 1652 when they supplied the Company Gardens and passing ships with fresh water, in those days, rivers flowed through the city (then known as Little Amsterdam).

Capetonians enjoyed walks alongside the rivers in the shade of oak trees, but as the years went by these rivers were used to carry sewage. By 1895 they were completely covered and nearly forgotten. Today you can go underground and explore these historic structures on a guided tour with Good Hope Adventures.
