We already know that Costco can save you hundreds to thousands of dollars yearly on groceries, clothing, household items, and beauty products. The wholesale chain is famous for giving consumers more bang for their buck because many of their products are offered in bulk for a reasonable price, saving you more money in the long run.
And even though this might not be news to you, did you know that you can save lots of extra cash on your next vacation by booking your travel through Costco? Everyone’s been talking about it, and I realized that Costco Travel is a valuable but often overlooked service.
But don’t take my word for it. Costco members on Reddit recently shared their Costco travel package experiences, and almost all the comments seem to be positive. If there’s a common theme among travelers’ stories, Costco’s in-house travel agency boasts outstanding customer service and competitive pricing.
Now, when I heard this, I knew I had to let the Must See Places readers know! While my posts usually contain my favorite places to visit in the US, I figured that just this once, let’s make an exception. We all deserve a break from everyday life, but that doesn’t mean we have to burn a hole in our wallets to do so.
So, on that note, check out 5 benefits of Costco’s vacation packages, according to consumers!
Ultimately, I went and spoke to a travel expert to see what the pros had to say about Costco’s vacation packages. She recommended booking travel through Costco because it delivers an experience that’s as rewarding and reliable as a weekly shopping run.
She said: “Just as I trust the Kirkland brand—Costco’s in-house brand—for my groceries, I trust Costco Travel for curated, exclusive deals with thoughtful perks. Every detail is designed to transform your trip into a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, from the extra onboard credits on cruises to unexpected upgrades at resorts.”
What my take from this was that Costco Travel feels a bit like a travel agent, only without the extra fee. They have a range of excursions, resorts, cruises, and more to choose from that they can help you book, save you money on, and they might even offer extra perks. You can even do all this online!
When spending your hard-earned money on a vacation, you might as well try to get all the perks and bonuses out of it that you can. Well, apparently, that’s where Costco holds an advantage over a travel agency.
While specific deals and other offerings can change, there are a few general categories that make booking through Costco Travel worth the price of your membership:
Fans have praised Costco Travel packages for their prices, which most consumers describe as competitive but not cheap. Apparently, the option to cancel and get refunded through Costco may be well worth it, according to a Reddit user.
Costco’s travel team reserves lower prices by negotiating costs with travel vendors. Because the warehouse club’s buying team doesn’t earn a commission, they’re incentivized to offer members the best deals possible, according to media outlets.
But, Redditors say shoppers can expect to pay thousands for all-inclusive trips because many of Costco’s packages include four- and five-star hotel bookings. For the best deals, look for Kirkland Signature Vacations.
The Costco Travel department partners with respected brands and ensures quality in every package they offer, reassuring members that they’re getting value for their money.
Also, the platform’s focus on transparency means that what you see is what you get. You don’t have to worry about hidden fees or any other surprises.
Even though its website is far from informative, Costco Travel offers various discounted services and goods, from cruises and car rentals to international packages and theme park trips.
Executive members reap extra benefits, including 2% cash back on their trip and freebies like room upgrades or included breakfasts.
Many folks are also huge fans of the warehouse club’s cruise line offerings because they’re packed with specialty dining perks, onboard credits, and exclusive amenities that turn a typical journey into a luxurious adventure.
And if you’re looking to book your flight, hotel, and transportation all in one hassle-free place, Costco Travel is probably the best choice for you. The bundled packages that include flights, lodgings, and car rentals are as easy as filling your cart with Costco’s best finds.
Many travelers have left reviews stating they felt comfortable booking with the warehouse club since they could contact customer service if anything went wrong with their trip. One customer wrote: “I’ve been to Hawaii with Costco 3 times. All have been phenomenal experiences.”
Other members echoed this sentiment, with one Redditor applauding Costco Travel’s “generous cancelation policy” during the heart of the pandemic. “We chose NY last summer primarily because we could cancel and get a full refund a month before the trip, which was useful to ensure the whole traveling party was fully vaccinated,” they wrote.
Given Costco’s outstanding return policy, I’m not surprised that its travel service is flexible in regard to cancellations. I checked, and you should know: Costco Travel’s terms and conditions page states that cancellations, refunds, and other changes won’t always be so cut and dry.
It seems that some changes lead to deposit losses, fees, and other penalties. The best thing to do is check with customer support before booking anything.
First, you’ll obviously need a Costco membership to take advantage of Costco’s vacation packages. The annual membership fees are $65 yearly for Gold Star Membership and $130 yearly for Executive Membership.
Each membership consists of a free Household Card for one extra person aged 16 or older who lives at the same address. Also, keep in mind that booking early can secure you the best prices. However, sometimes, those last-minute deals can surprise you with some pretty tempting offers.
To help you keep your eyes peeled, you can set up alerts through email updates. And lastly, don’t just take the standard hotel that’s offered. Look at all your options. This can reduce the price dramatically while still allowing you to stay at a quality hotel.
-Use the Costco Anywhere Visa Card: By paying with this credit card, you’ll get the chance to earn cashback on your travel purchase.
-Check for Seasonal Promotions: Costco Travel often offers seasonal promotions that include extra perks. So, I highly recommend signing up for Costco’s travel newsletters or alerts. It’s a great way to stay updated.
-Book Early: Costco’s travel packages can sell out pretty fast, especially if you’re looking to book a popular destination. So booking in advance guarantees you get the best deals possible.
-Look for Exclusive Member Deals: Costco frequently has member-only deals that are tough to find elsewhere, so don’t miss out on any of them!
Now, all that’s left to do is pack your bags (don’t forget your sunscreen) and book your next Costco travel experience!
