Florence, Italy

Rome always gets the credit for being Italy’s most stunning and historic city. But it can’t compete with Florence for its pure Italian beauty. Florence’s museums, churches, and palaces are home to some of the most artistic treasures worldwide.

The skyline-dominating cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is a can’t-miss. And the museums and galleries where the absence of mile-long lines misrepresents the presence of some of the most famous works of the Italian masters, especially Michelangelo’s iconic David.

This Must-See picturesque place’s most popular and influential sites include the Cathedral, the Uffizi, the Baptistery, and the Bargello.

The churches of Santa Croce and Santa Maria Novella are gorgeous art galleries, and the library of San Lorenzo is a glorious exhibition of Michelangelo’s architectural intellect. Pitti Palace houses extensive and varied art collections.

And we recommend spending a day at Boboli Garden and climbing the hills to the church of San Miniato al Monte to get an exquisite view of Florence. At night, tourists can take a leisurely stroll and pass by some wonderful cathedrals and piazzas.

If you’re an art lover and want to admire the majestic beauty of art and sculpture, then this Must-See picturesque place is the ideal holiday destination to add to your travel bucket list.

Lisbon, Portugal

In a city with sunshine most days of the year, there’s so much loveliness to behold, whether you’re on the beach’s edge or atop a beautiful rolling hill. The hills offer several viewing points called miradouro throughout this historic Must-See picturesque place.

But we recommend visiting its most famous, Miradouro da Graça or the less crowded yet still spectacular Miradouro da Senhora do Monte and Miradouro de Monte Agudo.

To view some incredible architecture, check out the Church and Monastery of São Vicente de Fora or the Arco da Rua Augusta.

And while you’re here, be sure to experience Lisbon’s natural gifts at Cape Roca, where the land meets the sea, or Arrabida Nature Park for pristine sand and crystal clear blue water.

To take in all of the sights of this Must-See picturesque place, visit the Amoreiras 360 Panoramic View at the Amoreiras Shopping Center.

One of the highest spots in the city at 570 feet above sea level, you’ll get a splendid view of the Tagus River, the Castle of São Jorge, and many of the city’s monuments.

Chefchaouen, Morocco

A fascinating fact about this Moroccan city is that the houses and mosques are painted in a beautiful blue. The famous theory behind this is that the color represents heaven. Although many locals would argue that the shade serves as a natural bug repellent.

Another great thing is that Chefchaouen is a breathtaking city, minus the hustle and bustle of nearby Fez and Marrakech.

And while you’re here, the blue-washed, artsy mountain village offers a wide range of quality accommodation, and fantastic eateries, making it a better alternative to a hectic multicity tour. This Must-See picturesque place is a great place to unwind and explore.

Consider taking a few day trips to the green hills for some crisper air. Interesting fact? This beautiful town was originally painted blue by the Jewish refugees from Europe who migrated during the 30s and dubbed the town: “The Blue Pearl.”

And let’s be clear: the town still keeps its tradition alive. The medina is the main focal point, and tourists will find the Chefchaouen version much more relaxed and laid back than any other medina.

For some local culture intertwined with traveler bliss, check out the waterfall to the east of the medina. This is a meeting point for residents who come to mingle and do their laundry.

The ruins of an antique mosque, behind the stunning waterfall, overlook the medina and its crumbling tower offers breathtaking views of the town.

We’re not surprised that tourists constantly flock to this Must-See picturesque place. This humble town is the embodiment of almost every Moroccan cliche you can imagine.

Charleston, South Carolina

Suspended on the Atlantic coast of South Carolina, this charming area maintains a near-magnetic appeal for its locals and the countless visitors who make their way to this spectacular, colonial city every year.

And despite the boulevards of The Battery, which is a street lined with luxuriously charming houses, and Chalmers Street’s Bermudian limestone and cobbles, this city that was established al the way back in 1670 is definitely NOT a glorified relic.

Instead, this Must-See picturesque place is home to a burgeoning creative set who’ve fueled its expansion of buzzing bars, award-winning nouveau southern cuisine, world-class distilleries, and modern hotels.

Prague, Czech Republic

This Must-See picturesque place is one of the most stunning, magical, and budget-friendly holiday destinations on our list. The old charming town is jam-packed with intricate towering buildings that could make any architect cry.

And in fact, Prague is more affordable than any other European city in Italy, France, England, or Spain. One of the true joys of vacationing here is standing on the Vltava River, watching the enchanting sunset over the castle. All in all, this is a true historical treasure.

It lies atop a hill towering over the town, encircled by gardens, whimsical streets, and brick-paved staircases.

It’s a collection of immaculate palace halls for various royal families, spanning over many generations, with the ominous Saint Vitus Cathedral as its centerpiece.

And don’t forget to stop by the Astronomical Clock in Prague because it’s one of the most visited sights in the area. For those who don’t know, it’s a tall elaborate clock tower that overlooks Old Town Square.

You can even roam around in the evening and check out the boutiques, restaurants, art galleries, and pubs. This Must-See picturesque place is an outstanding destination. And we won’t be surprised if soon, it will be at the top of most traveler’s bucket lists.

Bruges, Belgium

Despite the coast shifting, this retired seaport in Western Flanders is still a waterborne city today. A network of charming little canals connects this small polis of lovely tottering houses, belfries, and rural squares to the extensive waters of the North Sea.

From the Green Canal, with romantic 17th-century manses, trees, and fronds lining its banks, to the gilded glamor of The Burg, which is the city’s Baroque central square, where the civic and commercial heart of the city still beats, this area paints a vivid background. So don’t forget to pack your camera!

Incredible architecture and top-notch people-watching are best enjoyed from Bruges’ myriad street-side cafes, a perfect place to partake in this Must-See picturesque place’s obsession with Trappist, otherwise known as monk-brewed beer.
