Yosemite National Park

This is an ideal spring break destination if you live on the West Coast. We recommend it for the more adventurous families who love to spend time outdoors. It’s in the months of spring that Yosemite comes alive.

Flowers and wildlife start bursting into life inside the park after the long and cold winter months, so there’s lots to see. Families from all over the world go to see the tall granite walls in Yosemite Valley and hike some of the best trails this side of the country has to offer.

In fact, you could spend a whole week in this National Park and still only barely scratch the surface of everything it offers.

While many people stick to Yosemite Valley and hike its more popular trails, others branch out further to explore Yosemite’s other gems, like Clouds Rest or Tuolumne Meadows.

You can camp out, view the beautiful wildflowers, and maybe even take a few wildlife tours. When you come to Yosemite during spring break, you’ll leave wishing you had more time to explore this majestic alpine wonderland.

Phoenix, Arizona

Nice weather and budget-friendly adventures make this city the perfect place for your family’s spring break trip! Forget about all those expensive resorts, and just choose a vacation rental property.

The rates won’t burn a hole in your pocket, and you can save cash by cooking your meals. To make this even better, rent a place with a pool and splash around without worrying about those pesky spring break crowds.

You can explore some scenic hiking areas and marvel at the cacti and sunset views at Papago Park as you stroll through the red butte formations.

Adults and older kids can enjoy a more challenging hike up Camelback Mountain while admiring the breathtaking 360-degree views. And best of all? Let’s not forget that Phoenix is only a hop, skip, and a jump from the Grand Canyon and Sedona!

Blowing Rock, North Carolina

Hidden away in the western part of North Carolina, this charming mountain town has plenty of opportunities for your entire family to enjoy nature and have some fun partaking in many outdoor activities.

You’ll find Sugar Mountain, just 15 miles west, a small ski town with easy slopes. During the springtime, the Blue Ridge Parkway, along which the town is located, offers many breathtaking hiking trails.

And the downtown area of Blowing Rock is a perfect postcard area where you can take a leisurely stroll in the evening to browse the unique shops and relish the local food this place has to offer.

For the little ones, there’s also the Tweetsie Railroad to explore, and you can take them to check out the petting zoo and enjoy a few other rides.

The Florida Keys

The Florida Keys, an archipelago of islands off the southern coast of Florida, are a perfect Spring break destination for all families. The Sunshine State never disappoints with its beautiful tropical weather. First things first, though.

The drive through the Florida Keys on Overseas Highway is a can’t-miss, with the ocean giving you some breathtaking views. There’s so much to do here, including exploring the Coral reefs, parasailing, water sports, and snorkeling.

You should begin your trip from the first island, Key Largo, the largest of them all. It’s home to the first underwater Park in the US. You can take a bottom boat tour, put on your swimsuit and go snorkeling, and try scuba diving.

Next, drive to Key West, the state’s most populated and famous island. There’s so much history and culture seen here through its mansions and architecture of the Old Town. Stroll through Mallory Square in the evening to see the magic unfurl during sunset.

Or take a sunset cruise to enjoy the spectacular views while unwinding with a glass of wine.

Jamestown-Yorktown, Virginia

A fantastic budget-friendly spring break vacation idea is a visit with the whole family to the historic town of Jamestown in Virginia. It offers you the chance to have fun as you learn about our country’s past.

Explore the ruins of the first English settlement in North America, the Powhatan Indian village close by, and you can even go back in time by watching some outstanding re-enactments of the everyday life of the people back then. This all happens in a 17th-century fort!

For enthusiastic history buffs, there are also films and galleries which give a deeper insight into the early settlement, and another is dedicated to the American Revolution.

If you choose to visit during the months of March or April, you can also go on a kayaking tour along the James River.
