6 Stunning Florida Keys Camping Destinations Your Bucket List Will Love

Homestead: Take a trip back in time

This Florida Keys camping destination is worth the journey by private boat, tour, or plane. A mere 70 miles west of Key West, this National park comprises seven small islands and includes the famous Fort Jefferson.

You can camp here right in Tortugas National Park, ideal for enjoying stargazing, nature, and exploring the water.

Our favorite place to camp: Garden Key Dry

As with most national parks, Dry Tortugas is incredible for those looking for tent camping in the Florida Keys. All six-person campsites are first come, first serve, though, so reservations will NOT be accepted.

And since it’s a remote location, you should come prepared for a primitive camping experience. You can choose from any empty campsites, each offering a table and grill. You’ll need to bring all your own supplies, including food, water, and charcoal.

But remember to carry out your garbage when you leave this Florida Keys camping destination. And while composting toilets are available, you should know that they’re closed daily from 10 am to 3 pm.

No showers, Wi-Fi, electric hook-up, or cellular reception exist, so you may want to consider that.
