Another new addition. On the outside, the four boxy buildings are ultra-contemporary and painted in ice-cream shades. Inside, the 17 bedrooms are more intriguing, with hand-blocked Indian bedspreads and pop-art collages from Italian artist Cisky: cartoonish flourishes layered over black-and-white photos of Sri Lankan families. A path leads from the outdoor bar to the ocean (although it’s a scramble over rocks to the beach) where at sunrise a lone stilt fisherman awaits his catch. Doubles from about £250
